6×6 Strategy

On a 6×6 board, use a two-row snake chain in your corner. Position your top two tiles in Rows 1 and 2 of your anchor corner, with a descending chain spanning both rows (6+6=12 cells). This effectively doubles your planning horizon compared to the classic game. Never commit all resources to a single row — maintain a backup chain on the second row.

The 6×6 board tends to fill faster than new players expect. Aggressive small-tile cleanup in the early game is essential. Merge all 2s and 4s as quickly as possible to keep the board clear for higher-value merges later.

Key Tips

• Build a 2-row L-shape chain in one corner
• Clear small tiles aggressively in the opening
• Keep your highest tile locked in a corner always
• Use Undo when a move would displace your top tile
• Aim for 4096 as your first milestone on 6×6
